Saaay whaaaat? We beat the Colorado Avalanche, our playoff nemesis, in Denver last night? That's right. We stomped on the Colorado Avalanche, beating them 3-1, with Backstrom in the net and goals scored by Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Benoit Pouliot and Andrew Brunette. Pretty impressive for a guy that didn't want to hurt the friendship circle he's in with some of the Colorado Avalanche roster. Maybe he decided to take my advice: score score score on the ice, braid each other's hair on your own time. Just a little joke for you.
And apparently, Darcy Tucker of the Colorado Avalanche made a threat to Nick Schultz in the second period that he was going to take him out at the knees. And then he did, in the third. Knee hits are highly dangerous and can do quite a bit of damage, and Schultzie's right, this type of thing really does tell you a lot about a player's character. And this is how Tucker's played his entire career! His most famous "incident" was in the 2002 Stanley Cup Playoffs, when he checked Michael Peca of the New York Islanders to the point of blowing out his MCL and ACL. Now I love a good hockey fight as much as any of you (maybe even more), but guys like this take it too far. I know, I know. I was definitely the one who badmouthed Chris Simon's actions earlier last season, but definitely called him a hottie when he joined the Minnesota Wild roster in late February. But intentionally injuring another player is just plain wrong.

P.S. Minnesota Wild tickets are still available for next Thursday's game when the Wild take on the Phoenix Coyotes at the Xcel Energy Center. Which will be a great time to go cheer on the boys and build up their confidences a little bit. Plus, Burnsie should be back from his "upper body injury" R&R break by then...
Oh, and my East Coast boyfriend, Aaron Voros, got into quite a scuffle with Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Mike Smith. He held his composure for a while while Smith tried to instigate something, but finally Voros had to take care of business. He's a classy guy, I know. Here's the video of it if you want to see it for yourself:
Big weekend plans, anyone? The Minnesota Golden Gophers are taking on Michigan Wolverines in their second-to-last game at the HHH Metrodome on Saturday. I was thinking about going to the game, but already have a bunch of stuff going on Saturday! That being said...they're trying to "gold out" the Metrodome, it sounds like a pretty fun time! Plus, Minnesota Gopher football tickets are still available for this weekend, it's a great opportunity to see the Gophers play one of their last Dome games EVER. Sad! And yet super exciting because next year at this time we'll be able to go and watch the Gophers football games in an outdoor stadium...it'll be just like Lambeau, but better!
And speaking of the new Gopher stadium...I still believe that they should turn it into an outdoor ice arena once a year and have Hockey Day Minnesota held there...it would be like our own local Winter Classic! And the jerseys would be even more fantastic than the NHL Winter Classic ones, beause they would be for our local teams. Maybe we should start with a mini hockey party. Anyone have a backyard rink? I'll design jerrrr-seys!!! It would be so fun. Thoughts?

2 passed notes:
The outdoor game sounds like so much fun! Mmmm outdoor skating and hot cocoa (with a little Bailey's) sound soooo good right now!
Bruno is tight with Joe Sakic. That makes him automatically awesome, even though he's been awesome all along. I missed him and I'm glad he's back.
