So today, while perusing my usual blog readings, I came across this article on The National Sports Review. It's written by a guy named "Den Cotton", and is entitled: Why Chicks Should Be Banned From All-Star Voting. This guy basically writes an entire essay on why he thinks girls who are into sports - you know, girls that actually know anything about sports, not the "oh-i-love-soccer-because-david-beckham-is-hot-and-i-wish-i-were-posh-spice" girls - are scary.
"Female sports fans are just ridiculous creatures. I'm not
trying to deter you from going to games or asking questions, but I don't
want you in a fantasy league - unless it's well, you know...that other
fantasy league.""Ladies who love NHL are completely off limits. That is just
way too creepy, especially Wings junkies.""I know some of you ladies probably think I'm intimidated by
your sports knowledge - and I am. Not because I'm afraid you know more than me
about sports - because you probably do - but because I don't want you to be a
man. I don't feel like much of a man already, and I really want to keep what is
left of my dignity; and that is very little if you've been scoring at
home."
OMG. Let me just say that this guy is a total jag-off and doesn't even warrant any further comment. No wonder he uses such a lame-o cover name, if he released his real name with his "essays" he'd have more hate mail than his mailbox could handle.

5 passed notes:
Is he saying that if we know about sports, we are men? That is just ridiculous. WEIRD - O!!!!
Actually, it was a self-parody column, which means it was not to be taken seriously. And believe me, I still got a lot of hate mail since my name actually is Den Cotton -- minus the moron part of course. :)
Unfortunately, some folks didn't realize that the commentary was completely in jest. Because obviously, women should be free to do whatever they please, whether it is playing sports, watching sports, writing sports, running for president, or calling someone a moron whom they don't even know. :)
Associating manliness to anything other than being a good father and husband, is totally ludricous, and quite moronic and weird, as you both suggest.
well wishes,
den
Interesting follow-up by Den...the world of blogging and the varied bloggers still amaze me! Creativity, is his defense? hmmm....I didn't get this much feedback when I wrote my April Fools column about the Vikings firing Brad Childress!
As ludicrous as it was, there's a fine line between satire and reality sometimes, in that, there are actually guys out there that think, say, and do a lot worse things than I ever could write in a silly column, which can be read by just about any passersby on the net.
Creativity, like most things, is in the eye of the beholder. And we all choose to behold different things as being funny -- or simply lame.
LOL ... I think he inadevertantly pointed out your complete lack of humor.
Love your fake name Denny! How did you manage to get that on your drivers license and birth certficate?
